A rest day in Aberystwyth gave me a chance to catch up on the washing up and have a general clean up. The galley was starting to look like a student kitchen and the boat smell from the pasta sauce I had prepared in New Quay, so washing up was needed.
After doing the normal chores, repairing the anchor fixings in the bow locker and folding the sails, I had time to go and explore. I spent the rest of the afternoon wondering through the streets of Aberystwyth beating my way through the hoards of tourists. It was strange, after spending the best part of a month at sea this was one of the first ports full of people – it was like a small child taking their first trip to a big city!
After a lot of searching I had given up on finding anywhere to check my email then by mistake walked straight into an Internet café. At 10p a minute most people got a response to there emails, if very short!
After buying a copy of “24” (the American TV show) Series Three on DVD, I retreated to Silverwind for my first experience of TV for 3 weeks! As the DVDs total 20 hours and are highly additive, 12 hours later I was still watching and it was clear that I was not going to be leaving on Thursday morning as originally planned!
Thursday turned into a “24” viewing session while reading a book and cooking in between in a desperate attempt not to get square eyes!
We are now looking ready to move off on Friday morning when a force 3 to 4 from the Southwesterly should be good for the trip north.
